When the temperatures drop, it’s common for our fitness motivation to dip as well. Jogging on icy sidewalks in frigid temperatures just isn’t as enticing as running under the warm summer sun. Many popular outdoor team sports are on hold. Though it is a challenge, you must find your fitness motivation this winter – especially if you’re looking to get a jump start on your New Year’s health resolutions. Below we’ve compiled five tips to help you maintain or improve your health and wellness and find your motivation this winter!

1. Keep your goals in mind.

Results don’t happen overnight. Only you can achieve your desired results through determination and consistency! As they say, “the only workout you’ll regret is the one that didn’t happen.”

2. Try winter sports.

Snowboarding, ice skating and skiing are a few incredibly fun ways to embrace the cold season. Did you know that one hour of rigorous snowboarding can burn up to about 1,260 calories? Open your mind to the unique physical fitness options available during this time of year!

3. Find a workout partner.

A workout partner is a powerful strategy for success. An exercise buddy will hold you accountable, add an element of healthy competition that will keep you motivated, be your greatest support, and keep working out fun.

4. Choose leisure activities strategically.

How does your family spend quality time together? Make time for activities that fuse fun and fitness. Bundle up and go for a hike or play in the snow.
